Regarding Yi Quan | 02 juillet 2011

My Yi Quan master was in the first range disciples of Tacheng Chuan (a sort of Yi Quan) in the 90′s, then he broke, and came hopefully in the first range central Yi Quan lineage in China (master Cui Rui Bin) in the 2000′s.

Now he is setting abit apart, and go on, in quite social and moral challenge, in the boxings around Yi Quan at its beginnings, Xing Yi Liu He Quan (chinese muslims), Xin Hui Zhang (from Xing Yi Ba Gua), and Liu He Ba Fa (Water Boxing).

All this culture of boxing ? A real good cultural (and physical) work like in a high level european museum regarding to worldwide patrimony (this time chinese internal boxing).

About my Yi Quan master, some of his actuations are regarded sidely out-law for some, because he is not anymore standing into a single and full lineage. I can be regarded so regarding to him. The solution ? Probably the practice. His way, as far as culture can be judge, is however very logical and interesting, even if personal choice shall set the last word.

My master showed me that I learned the basic healing / relaxing aspect and that « I made a confusion » (which is founded and not – he explained) with the combat. He beated me (a bit) to show clearly the combat side. I am still with this feeling, myself as event… And he proposed to me the same learning I had for healing but this else time for combat (its keys).

What I know (and that he tells also) is that life in itself is a combat, and that, internal art, there is as good law a self being even deeper in oneself. I’ll think its time about this Yi Quan combat learning.

As I wished it, he also told me it is good to learn Tai Chi, no regard with whom. He said Wang Xiang Zhai, fundator of Yi Quan, travelled ten years to meet and learn with others in the 1920s’, also Tai Chi indeed.

My Yi Quan master told me to work (so called) I Chuan as unmoved and slow as possible, then it serves, together with nature, for whatever, Tai Chi also.
